Schuylkill Squirrels (aka Blind Squirrels) was created in 2010 and is based in Schuylkill County, Pa.
We’re a group of novice curlers and our home ice is at Anthracite Curling Club in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Current and past members include Skip Joshua Sophy, Vice-Skip Kimm Montone and members Anne Friedman, Josh Stoffregen, Chris Martinelli, Dave Cawley and Thom Kivler.
The Squirrels competed in the inaugural regular season of Anthracite Curling Club, formed after a very successful Learn to Curl clinic in the Spring of 2010. Sophy, Montone and Stoffregen were united with Friedman for the 9-game regular season. Some roster shake-ups midway through the season stifled late success and the team fell short of reaching the Anthracite Cup playoffs in its first year.
